 learning to fly poetry

LEARNING TO FLY

Brought into this place thru
flood and with blood
Wide eyed with curiosity
You are raised by children
Values inserted
Emotions surround and devour
Peers accept and reject
You choose and are burned
You try and you learn
Chastened by fear
Values adjusted
Then you fight
Failing often
Walls established
Some erode
Others remain, Perhaps forever
Values tested
Love is experienced
and you know it
Trust awakens
Joy shows her face
Mercy and faith
Then pain
Values refined
Strength gives way
Faculties fail
Time to return
One question,
Did you learn how to fly?

fading light poetry

FADING LIGHT

External light fades
Apprehensions increase
Clutching we steel the weak knees
As trusted forms diffuse in gray
Foreshadowing these must pass away
What to lean on henceforth?
How to cope with the change?
Can lead to diverse conclusion
One answer I've seen
Is the space in between
Not constructed of matter
Nor brought forth by man
A place without shape that is sure
Tho it touches no thing
From your center will spring
A great peace in the dark
with the knowing.

I WILL SURVIVE

Oh no you won't...but it will be O.K. ...you can't keep this mind set and live anyways...what brought you here...perhaps misguided trust...something you just had to have and without this you'd bust...did you lean on a doctor, or religion, or government, illusion of ease, prosperity, familiarity, living free of disease? please...these be dominoes, ready to topple in slightest breeze...now thoroughly disillusioned...exit from room of confusion...to the promise land...always at hand...when blind eyes start to see.

MESMERIZE

What to do when your feeling blue? crank up the noise....does thou hear the buzz? I've been stung...so I still the din, look within...hmmm, nothing on the shelves, just cheap pine boards, at least there's no roaches. Shut the freaking door, go out and explore....no sun, rain has begun and cold breeze makes me need to whiz. Gee whiz. Chess Whiz...Go see the Wiz, the wonderful wizard of facade. Eat at Joes. Turn on the news. Turn off the news. News is getting old. If you don't vote, you can't have any pudding. How can you have any pudding, if you don't vote? There is no pudding. One day I'll figure it out or cast it all away. We don't talk anymore, nothing to say. Its all been said. So lets just sit and pretend that were O.K. Cause we are, everything's ducky, all is well, look at me, I'm feeling swell. It's no big deal, whatever it is....Burma Shave.

WHAT'S NEXT ?

Do you know where you're going to... Do you like what life throws at you... Spin the wheel. .step on the dots...twisting ties you up in a knot.. there's no reason, no rhyme ..seasoned with some thyme ..are you experienced ..focus...pocus ..then you crocus...turn the page...read your lines...feel the feelings...observe the signs...make of it what you will...better still...refuse ..stretch...when force fed ..just wretch...dance in the face of trouble...laugh hearty when you're offered stubble...badges ..we don't need no stinking badges...its the truth if you believe...come out of hiding holes, status of moles...a rolling stone gathers no moss...and there's cob webs everywhere...won't somebody think of the children...all my children...when will it end...melodrama...soap opera...ride the wave...this whale's beached...what does it teach...can we learn...do we change...does it matter...from far range...on a clear day you can see forever...if you can buy chicken like this...why cook?

star lit night inspired by van gogh starry night

( inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night )

STAR LIT NIGHT

Smoking pipe so peacefully
Stain from chest wound grows
days of conversation and reflection
followed the coming of crows
a life of torment and rejection
no hint in his radiant light
for a glorious awareness was in him
what was revealed on that bright star lit night.

man of string, man of stone

MAN OF STONE, MAN OF STRING

 (man of stone)
Time after Time, Rigidity sets in
Bring down the hammer hard !
Crush inflexibility, Treat with utmost enmity.
Rocky Soul, void of mystery and wonder
Transformation unseen, Reserved for the supple
Be a living thing, let your countenance sing !
 Rigormortis is for the dead
 (man of string)
Strings are pulled to set one off
on tangent after tangent
 Manipulated soul, who's in control?
Rise and fall with puppeteers hands
Empowered by chaos, divided in state
Swing wide the sword!, Sever the cord!
Walk free on the path that's within you.

two become one

TWO BECOME ONE

 Among the darkened souls
where variety and sex are king.
Dwell those who learn the vanity
that flesh and lust does bring.

To focus on the surface
making bias the plumb line,
 To look beyond makes equal
giving lightning to the eyes.

So our choice in this human condition,
be  bound all our days in the sun,
or abide in love that's committed
to see the beauty of two become one.
